Michelle uses a range of mediums, both digital and analog, to create contemporary portraits of models, artists, celebrities as well as ordinary people. In both her commissioned assignments and her portrait work, Michelle’s careful approach and love for the powerful gaze aims to connect the viewer more deeply with her subjects. For her more recent work the artist’s technique is characterized by using a medium-format camera to capture the stories of individuals not normally seen in the public eye. These intimate portraits dive into life in the American South and aim to explore diverse subjects expressing themselves through their own self-identity.

Space 42 & Artview 42

Michelle Calloway is also Co-Founder of Space 42, a creative incubator located inside a 22,000 sq. ft. warehouse in Jacksonville, Florida. The goal of Space 42 is to become a destination where artists and innovators can explore their ideas and collaborate with like minded individuals. The space includes co-working space, a contemporary art gallery, community space and coffee bar. Along side Space 42, Michelle founded and created Artview42, a digital extension of Space 42. A42 is a platform for artist interviews, photography, videos and the #Artisttalks podcast. The mission is to create a community that inspires, supports and encourages its readers.
